THE hunt is on for the mother of an abandoned two-day-old baby who was left on a doorstep and found on Sunday.

The boy was found at 2pm on Sunday by a man who returned to his house in Park Avenue, Southall to find him wrapped in a towel on the doorstep without a note.

The baby who was taken to New Ealing Hospital and is in good health. He was named Charlie by hospital staff and is believed to have been born only a couple of days earlier.

The child's ethnicity is unclear but it is believed he is possibly Asian or of mixed race. Police are urging the mother to come forward as it is thought she may be in need of urgent medical attention. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ealing's Child Protection Team on 8246 1901.
