THE A40 westbound carriageway is expected to remain closed all day following a crash just after midnight this morning in which a lorry driver died.
The collision, which involved two BMWs and the 40ft articulated lorry, happened on the westbound carriageway of the A40 between the Target Roundabout and the Polish War Memorial. Two of the three lanes on the eastbound carriageway are also closed.
The lorry is on its side across all three lanes of the westbound carriageway and the road surface has been damaged by spilled diesel fuel. The police expect this carriageway to be closed for the rest of the day.
The two eastbound lanes are closed due to the wreckage of the two cars and police are appealing for motorists to seek alternative routes.
The smash is being investigated by officers from the Alperton Traffic Unit and anyone with information is asked to ring police on 0208 246 9820 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.
