AN off-duty police officer has been killed in a collision in Perivale.

The 37-year-old officer, who was based with the Traffic Operational Command Unit, had finished work and was making his way home at around 9.30pm yesterday, April 22.

He was travelling west in Teignmouth Gardens on his motorbike, a Yamaha TDM900, when was involved in a collision with a silver VW Passat near the junction with Horsenden Lane South.

Police, the ambulance service and the air ambulance were called, but the 37-year-old officer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has been formally identified and his next of kin have been informed, but police say they are not yet in a position to release his name.

The driver of the car fled the scene on foot before police arrived, but two female passengers stayed at the scene and were arrested on suspicion of obstructing police.

Three men from Barnet have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

They are currently in custody at a north London police station.
