Londoners face a week of disrupted council and Tube services, as unions take strike action over salary and employment disputes.
Unison, the public services union has sent thousands of its members, working for borough councils across London, out on strike as part of its two year campaign for an increased London weighting salary allowance.
The industrial action will affect schools in 12 London boroughs, and will also involve staff in some housing departments.
Unison members want another £4,000 for London weighting.
Tube workers on the Hammersmith and City line will walk off the job for 24 hours on Thursday evening, in a dispute with London Underground over the dismissal of a worker.
London Underground sacked the man after bosses saw footage of him leaving a squash club while he was off work to supposedly recover from an injury.
The RMT union claims the squash club visit was part of his medical recovery, but LU has dismissed this claim.
Union officials representing postal workers and firefighters will meet this week to discuss development in long-running disputes with their respective employers.
