A MASSIVE scheme to replace 30km of old waterpipes around Greenford started this week.

Three Valleys Water has launched the scheme in an effort to improve the effectiveness of its delivery service by taking out crumbling metal pipes to replace them with more durable plastic ones.

The works started in the Medway Estate in Perivale, but are set to take in most of Greenford over the next two years.

Traffic management schemes will be put in place where roads need to be dug up, although the company promises to use modern methods to avoid digging holes wherever possible.

Detailed information of works in the local area will be sent to homes and businesses before they are due to start.

Any anticipated traffic disruption will also be signposted in advance on affected roads.
