THE chief medical officer to the British Olympic Association has been awarded an OBE for his services to sport.
Dr Richard Budgett, from Acton, a former Olympic Gold medal winner, has attended six Olympic Games, four as chief medical officer.
He will head the medical team at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
Dr Budgett said: "I am delighted and honoured to have been recognised for my services to sport."
Also in the Queen's birthday honours, Malcolm Osmundson, a school resource manager, from Hanwell has been awarded an MBE for his services to Higher Education and Neil Munro, a director of revenue policy at the Inland Revenue from West Ealing received a CBE for his contribution to public services. Mr Osmundson said: "It was very hard keeping the news to myself."
