A BURST water main is causing floody awful problems for pedestrians who are having to walk on a main road instead of the pavement.

Residents in Haven Lane, Ealing, say a leak along their street has been spouting water for more than three months and has not been fixed by water board chiefs. Ealing Council recently put up a sign closing off part of the pavement after green algae started to grow where the water was leaking, making the concrete slippery and dangerous.

Resident Rex Nielsen said: "It has been three months since the water has been leaking on Haven Lane and the water board has not done anything about it.

"I have called a number of times and some engineers came out and dug up the road but they still haven't found the cause of the leak.

"The water is just continuously pouring out into the street. It is not only a hazard but is a waste of a lot of water."

The Times contacted Thames Water about the leak but a spokesman said it was due to a burst pipe belonging to the owner of a property which Thames Water is not responsible for.

He added: "The leak is on the customer's own pipe and we have written to them informing them of the problem.

"Because it is the first time it has happened for this particular customer we have offered to fix the leak for them for free.

"In this case we are waiting for the customer to get back to us and if they do we can fix the leak this week. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused."
