LONDON Mayor Ken Livingstone happily posed for this picture with his copy Times when he spoke to Ealing Mayor Gurcharan Singh (pictured) and our reporter Ushma Mistry.
Back in August 2002 the Times revealed Mr Livingstone's wish for there to be one big mela for London.
Responding to the cancellation of last year's Southall Mela he said: "I do hope we can bring all the melas of London together and do one big mega mela in somewhere like Hyde Park where thousands can be brought together."
Mr Livingstone: "It's something like one in ten of London's population are of Asian origin and I would like to make the rest of London aware of the Asian richness."
