A TOP cop has said he hopes to maintain good relations with the new people running an important religious centre.
On Sunday Sikhs voted in a new committee to the Gurdwara in Havelock Road, which is responsible for the day-to-day running of the centre.
A new chairman is due to be picked from the Lion group, ending the 14-year reign of Himmat Singh Sohi.
Chief Superintendent Ian Jenkins, who is responsible for community policing in Ealing, said: “We had a good working relationship with the outgoing committee of the gurdwara, and we are hoping to continue this relationship with the incoming committee.”
More than 100 police were called in to monitor the streets around the Gurdwara on Sunday amid claims of intimidation and violence in previous polls.
