A BUS company has said its drivers are not set to strike this Friday despite claims by a union.
Drivers for Sovereign, which operates buses in north west London, have voted to support strike action, but have not yet voted in favour of taking the action according to bosses.
A statement from the drivers’ union Unite had said buses operating from Harrow and Edgware bus depots would be affected in the massive strike on Friday, October 10.
However, Steffan Evans, a spokesman for the bus company, said: “London Sovereign drivers have not formally balloted for industrial action at this time and the company has not been notified of any dates for industrial action by driving staff.”
More drivers across the capital are due to join Friday’s strike in protest over unequal levels of pay for drivers doing the same job for different franchises.
Last month two similar walkouts caused chaos for thousands of commuters. The Soveriegn drivers may join in with another strike planned for Wednesday, October 22.
