Bees boss Andy Scott has prepared for the expected departure of skipper Matt Heywood this week by bringing in highly-rated Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Leigh Mills on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old England U20s international, who recently signed a new deal at White Hart Lane, becomes Scott's fifth signing of the summer after moving for 20-year-old goalkeeper Ben Hamer from Reading.
The goalkeeper also switched to Griffin Park on a season-long loan deal after signing new one-year contract at the Madjeski Stadium on Tuesday.
Hamer had two spells at the club last year and has an early chance to exorcise the demons of last season's 4-1 defeat to Bury, when the Bees travel to Gigg Lane on the campaign's opening on August 9.
But Scott believes he has the character to learn from his mistakes when he joins up with the squad for pre-season training on July 1. delighted to have the pair on board ahead of pre-season training starting on July 1.
"Ben made a few mistakes during his two spells last season, but you can expect that from an inexperienced keeper and he will learn and move forward from that," he said.
"He comes in as my number one and it is his position to hold onto.
"Leigh is an uncompromising centre-half who I'm sure will settle in well in League Two."
John Mousinho has moved to League Two rivals Wycombe Wanderers having had his Bees contract cancelled by mutual consent.
