STUDENTS were given a hands-on introduction to the construction industry at the fourth annual Acton Gardens event on the South Acton estate.

Countryside and L&Q, who are involved in an £800m regeneration of the estate, welcomed 42 students from Twyford Secondary School in Acton, Ealing Alternative Provision and West Thames College in Feltham.

They attended nine workshops covering carpentry, tiling, plumbing, electrical, drylining, bricklaying, formwork, architecture and construction planning.

The event also involved a tour of Acton Gardens, showing the students behind the scenes at one of the largest regeneration schemes in west London.
