Major project to start next month

A MULTI-MILLION pound project to improve the centre of Greenford will start next month it was revealed last night.

The first phase of the Good for Greenford scheme, a major project to improve things like paving and traffic restrictions in the area, will start in June after a £4.5m budget was approved by councillors.

At a meeting of Ealing Council's cabinet last night the issue of buses running along Otter Road and Windmill Lane was also raised by council leader Councillor Jason Stacey.

He said: "Residents in these roads came to us during the consultation and raised the issue of buses which run along their road. There can be six or seven buses parked up with their engines running, and I do not know how residents are expected to live like this.

"By taking off the restrictions of buses turning right into Ruislip Road while travelling north on Greenford Road we can cut this by 15 buses an hour for a start."

The first work to start will be improvements to street furniture like benches and bike stands, and work on improving transport links are likely to start a few weeks after that.

Cllr Stacey said Mr Sharma should resign his seat on the council. Councillor jason Stacey called for action to cut buses in a residential road
