READERS of the Ealing Times voting on this website are against a local authority's decision to cut funding for Southall Black Sisters.

Around 100 protestors gathered on the steps of Ealing Town Hall forcing councillors to flee a meeting, on Tuesday, February 26, after Ealing Council announced its intention to make the cut.

Following this incident, 58 per cent of readers, answered no to the question "Should the Southall Black Sisters have their council funding cut in favour of a new all encompassing domestic violence service?" in our last web poll.

However, 30 per cent supported the council's decision. And 12 per cent voted for equal funding for both.

Our current web poll asks "Will clearer signs make clamping fairer?"

A meaningless result without knowing the number of respondents. 58% of what? 10, 100, 1000?

Any new service providing this vital service must be fully inclusive, by definition this current service is not.

Would, as example, an aused white male in Acton be counselled by Southall Black Sisters?

How about the black community funding their "sisters"?
Too much money is wasted on these bleeding heart groups

The council obviously needs the money to keep up payments to their pension fund. Our maintenance charge has gone up by 30% in Havelock. This council is as useless as the last one....and worse crooks.

Not surprised in the least. Typical white man's response to everything.

There are services available to the groups of which you speak. Granted maybe not as local as you'd like but historically there aren't many white men being battered or threatened with homelessness/deporta
tion or being enslaved in their own homes.

Why don't you just come out and say what you really mean without resorting to the old "taking all our resources" nonsense?

I pay my taxes and I'd like to see that pot go towards funding a matter close to my heart not what the Tories see fit.
