The Metropolitan Police have hailed this year's Notting Hill Carnival as a resounding success, after a weekend of peaceful celebration in the capital.
Over a million people danced in the streets and were wowed by the glittering parade, all to the accompaniment of huge sound systems, in the biggest carnival Notting Hill has ever seen.
Although over 80 arrests were made, a large proportion of them were for possession of drugs, and only a handful were the result of affray or assault on police officers.
This made a marked contrast with previous years, when the arrest tally has been considerably higher, and included murders and stabbings.
Thanking officers and support staff who worked up to and through the festival, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Trotter said: "This has been a year of change for Carnival and we are grateful for the close working partnership we have had with the Notting Hill Carnival Trust, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council and Westminster Council."
