CARNIVAL fever took over the residents of Acton last weekend with the hot weather bringing the community out in large numbers.

More than 2,500 people joined in the carnival event which gets bigger and better every year.

Now in its fifth year, Acton Carnival's theme for this year was gold after the Queen's Golden Jubilee year.

Sydney Massip, founder and organiser of the carnival said: "Acton Carnival has gone from a fairly small community event to a much larger celebration involving people from all communities.

"Everybody enjoyed themselves and the whole day was incident-free which clearly reflects the people of Acton."

As well as floats and activities for children, different artists performed on a live stage in Woodlands Park.

A spokesman for the council said: "Ealing Council worked alongside the carnival organisers throughout the year to ensure Acton Carnival was a great success.

"Work will soon begin on next year's Carnival and it is hoped that it will be every bit as successful as this year and attract even more people."
