A WOMAN was stabbed in her home for just £2.50 during a violent robbery which left her needing surgery.

At about 3pm on Saturday the 37-year-old woman was alone at her home in Chestnut Grove, Ealing, when a man approached her front door. As she answered it the attacker forced his way into her house and assaulted her, said a police spokesman.

As the victim struggled with her attacker she was hit about the head and stabbed in the stomach with a knife. She was left with a 1.5 inch wound.

She was taken to Ealing Hospital where she was operated on and is currently in a stable condition.

The attacker is described as black, 22 years old, 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a black jacket. He made off with £2.50 in cash.

Police would like to speak to anyone who might have seen the attacker running from the scene or anyone who knows anything about the crime.
