A TOTAL of 71 Scouts from the Greater London Middlesex West area received their Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at the Victoria Hall in Ealing on Wednesday.

Each received medallions to go with their framed certificate and a cheque for £250, which they can spend within their unit.

They were nominated by their peers and leaders for achievements big and small, but always for doing their best.

Greater London Middlesex West have received £429,626 from the Jack Petchey Foundation since funding started in 2007.

Winners included Emily Harpley-Gebbels, 13, who is in the Ealing and Hanwell unit. She was nominated for encouraging others and supporting them in trying new activities.

She will spend her £250 grant on new equipment for the unit.

Ron Molloy, 13, from Greenford, joined his unit as a nervous, quiet member but has now progressed to senior patrol leader, the highest rank a scout can reach. His £250 grant will go on new equipment.

Kalil Browne, 12, of Ealing and Hanwell district, is now helping out at the Beavers Club as a Young Leader, which he completed as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award. His £250 grant will go on a canal trip for his unit.

Ivaylo Marinov, 12, from Greenford, hopes to achieve his Chief Scout’s Gold Award and will spend his £250 grant on new equipment for the unit.

Alec Maddison, 13, from Greenford, has achieved his bronze and silver and also hopes to achieve the Gold Award by the end of the year. His £250 will go on new equipment.
