Objectors to a new block of flats near their homes have urged their council to reject the proposals this evening.

Harrow Council’s planning committee will tonight discuss the site, ‘Northcote’, in Rickmansworth Road, Pinner, where officers have recommended that the plans are approved.

If put through, a new two-storey block will be added to the 24-flat development, which will house eight new flats.

Those living near to the site have written to the council to voice their opposition, suggesting that the proposals will cause “environmental and safety issues”.

Majd Kilani, who is against the plans, pointed out that previous applications have been rejected in 2016 and 2017.

He argued that the campaign against the redevelopment has affected the health of those taking part.

“The situation is causing frustration and distress to local people and residents who are mostly parents with families, full-time jobs and children to care for,” he said.

“They don’t have the time and resource to keep battling these development attempts, which have caused significant stress.

“It has taken away time and energy that they would otherwise dedicate to their families and the community.”

Council officers recommended that this latest application is approved because it will provide new homes and will fit with the area.

The council received 44 objections to the proposals, covering issues such as parking, tree removal and the character of the development.
