Harrow geared up for this year’s New Year’s Day parade with a full dress rehearsal outside the civic centre.

Each year, floats from each London borough parade through the city centre to bring in the New Year.

Harrow’s theme for 2019 is ‘Harrow Hugs the World’ – celebrating the borough’s diverse make-up and multiculturalism.

It will feature dancers and musicians and will champion members of the emergency services.

Each entry is judged by a panel with the chance to win cash prizes, which would be donated to the Mayor of Harrow’s chosen charities.

Harrow has traditionally performed well at the New Year’s parade – in 2018 it came second behind Westminster with its ‘Moulin Rouge’ theme to take home £9,000.

Those involved with the project said they hope this year’s effort will be bigger and better and that they “won’t stop until we reach the top”.
