Seven people were arrested after a dispute, involving weapons, broke out on a housing estate.
Police, reportedly armed with tasers, were called to The Gossamers in the Meriden, Watford, on Saturday at around 1pm.
The argument took place between two groups of people known to each other.
Several officers as well as numerous police vehicles rushed to the estate to help deal with the situation. Police have reported that a car was also involved in the altercation.
A taser was not used.
Seven people were arrested, including six men and one woman, between the ages of 20 and 50, on suspicion of affray.
All have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
A police spokeswoman said: “Six men and a woman were arrested on Saturday afternoon on suspicion of affray following an incident involving weapons in the Meriden estate.
“It started at around 1pm in The Gossamers between two groups of people known to each other. During the altercation, a car was involved. Fortunately, no-one was injured during the incident.
“The escalating situation was quickly contained by police officers. At no point were any other residents at risk of being caught up in the threat of violence. Those arrested have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
