1. The Matt Monro Story - One Voice

Head to The Alban Arena to celebrating the life and music of the legendary Matt Monro in The Matt Monro Story, appearing on tonight at 7.30pm. A unique evening of music, warmth and love, keeping the memory of this great English singer’s music alive. From Born Free to Walk Away to Portrait Of My Love be prepared to be transported in time by this tribute to one of Britain’s most popular and endearing singers named “the singer’s singer” by his peers.

2. The Big Band at Christmas

Swing into Christmas with the unique Five Star Swing Big Band, in The Big Band at Christmas, live at The Alban Arena tomorrow at 2pm. As featured at London’s Leicester Square Theatre and on BBC’s “Children in Need”, as well as at Dame Vera Lynn’s Charity Ball & Blackpool Tower Ballroom, enjoy all your favourite Christmas songs with the dynamic Big Band treatment. From Glenn Miller, Sinatra, Basie, Nat King Cole and more. Featuring Simone from the Ivy Benson Orchestra, and Chris Smith (Jnr) composer and arranger for the BBC Radio Big Band, Herb Miller Big Band (Glenn’s brother).

3. Hal Cruttenden: Chubster

Comedian Hal Cruttenden brings his new show, Chubster, to The Alban Arena on Wednesday at 8pm. Hal’s literally filled our screens recently on Have I Got News For You, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, Bake Off: Extra Slice, and Live at the Apollo. His daughters chose the title of his new stand-up show. He’s now on a diet

4. Stewart Francis - Into the Punset

Star of Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo and Crackerjack Stewart Francis embarks on a brand-new show, in this, his last tour ever. See him live at The Alban Arena on Thursday at 8pm before he heads off… INTO THE PUNSET. With his deadpan delivery of hilarious one-liners, Francis has headlined all over North America and the United Kingdom and has found success on runs on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, supporting Ricky Gervais on his Science tour, and has also written for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the USA.

5. Sarah Munro and support from The Petty Criminals

Hertfordshire singer Sarah Munro will be bringing sublime Jazz, Folk and Easy Listening to Harpenden Public Halls on November 23. With a delicate songbird’s voice reminiscent of Eva Cassidy and Katie Melua, Sarah’s music has been championed by Jamie Cullum and Michael Ball, both of whom featured her debut single ‘For Eternity’ on their BBC Radio 2 shows. In 2017, Sarah performed headline sets at Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Cornbury Festival, after completing a 24 date UK tour supporting Paul Carrack. Sarah will be joined for this concert by Tom Petty inspired band The Petty Criminals.

6. Show of Hands

Multi-award winning acoustic folk trio Show of Hands are performing live at The Alban Arena on Friday 23 November at 7.30pm. The Show of Hands line-up of Steve Knightley, Phil Beer and Miranda Sykes looks a little different for their 2018 Joint Venture tour. Miranda and husband Dan are expecting their first baby in November, and so Cormac Byrne (legendary percussionist of Seth Lakeman Band fame) steps into the breach to complete the Show of Hands autumn trio and give it a fresh new sound. Special guests are Alden, Dashwood and Patterson.

7. The Nutcracker

Be swept away on a magical adventure in one of the most famous classical ballets of all time – The Nutcracker. See it at The Alban Arena on Saturday 24 November at 2.30pm. With its combination of enchanting choreography and unforgettable music, this fabulous ballet is a Christmas treat like no other. Set to Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score, the traditional tale of The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara and her enchanted nutcracker doll. Their adventures see Clara and the Nutcracker combat the Mouse King, and join the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier on a wonderful journey through the glistening Land of Snow to a kingdom made entirely of sweets.

8. The Ultimate “Old” School Disco

Saturday 24 November sees the return of the Ultimate Civic Disco, this time bringing you The Ultimate “Old” School Disco at The Alban Arena from 7pm until 12:30am. Once again hosted by Graham Kentsley, the evening also sees the return of School favourites.

9. Alter Eagles

Coming to Harpenden Public Halls - performed with seven piece live band, complete with all those harmonies these aren’t no New Kids In Town. This production produces all the energy from the original concert as they performed all of the greatest hits from Hotel California, Life In The Fast Lane, Take It Easy, Already gone, Best of my Love, Take It To The Limit and so many more.
