Break-dancers, acrobats, and fire breathers will wow crowds this weekend as the popular ice rink returns to the town centre for the festive season.

The Big Skate in The Parade, Watford, will launch this Saturday, as it comes back for its fifth year.

More than 10,000 took to the ice last year and whether you are a budding Torvill and Dean or just out to have some fun, you’re sure to have an ice time.

Penguin skate aids are available to hire for those looking for some extra help.

If you’re a little hesitant about getting your skates on, then a nearby ski bar and hot drinks stall may be your cup of tea instead.

To mark the opening day, the Birmingham Ice Freestylers will be wowing crowds with their ice acrobatics and dancing throughout the day, with breakdancing, stunts and fire-breathing all part of the planned performance.

You can turn up on the day or book a ticket at watfordbigevents.co.uk

You will also be able to see full details of prices and opening hours on the above website.

Normal hours are 11am – 9pm at the weekends, and 12noon to 9pm during the week.

The rink will be in Watford from this Saturday until January 13.
