Eight community organisations dedicated to improving peoples’ lives could be in the running for a cash boost.

People in Harrow can now vote for community groups making a difference to receive support from the Aviva Community Fund – which offers money to worthwhile projects and services.

Nominations are open until November 20. Participants can vote ten times all on one project or by distributing votes across the groups.

The organisations through to the Aviva online voting round are the South Harrow Christian Fellowship, Dawn Charitable Trust, Harrow Nature Conservation Forum, Citizens Advice Harrow, Arts for Life, Middlesex Association for the Blind, Harrow and Wembley Sea Cadet Corps and Stag Lane Schools PTFA.

Cllr Sue Anderson, community engagement and accessibility portfolio holder, said: “We are ever grateful for all the hard work these wonderful Harrow organisations put into making the borough an even better place to live.

“Sadly, in these times of austerity, all services are cut back - but how wonderful to see that their community spirit and values never falter, nor does their initiative in applying for the extra funding they need.”

Tom Daniell, Marketing Director at Aviva, said: “Community wellbeing is incredibly important to us.

“That’s why we run the Aviva Community Fund – we want to offer people the opportunity to easily take action and help a group in their area.”

Winners will be announced on January 24, 2019.
