A drug bust bagged 400 cannabis plants allegedly grown by an “illegal” immigrant.

Police said patrolling officers stopped at an address in Charlton Road in Kenton where they found a “sophisticated cannabis factory” filling five big rooms.

Harrow officers were called to the address on an “unrelated incident” – but upon arrival they reported “suspicious circumstances” and searched the property.

A 27-year-old Albanian man was arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis, “abstracting electricity” (diverting) and illegal entry to the UK.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “The property had been adapted into a sophisticated cannabis factory comprising of five large rooms all with cannabis plants.

“Advance lighting and extraction systems had been installed throughout.

“There was an estimated 400 cannabis plants within the address most of which appear fully developed awaiting harvesting.

“This haul would be worth an enormous amount of money to an organised criminal gang such as this.”

The arrested man was detained at a north west London police station.

Enquires continue.
