SOUTHALL Waterside, the regeneration scheme on the old gasworks site, is the winner of the Brownfield Project of the Year award.

The Berkeley (West Thames) development also won Best Urban Regeneration Project at the Brownfield Briefing Awards.

The 88-acre site was left unused for more than 40 years. Ground conditions, including 17 active gas mains, meant Berkeley has used all its expertise to transform the site.

It will eventually have 3,750 new homes, as well as commercial, community and leisure space, including two new parks and a primary school. It will also open up access to the Grand Union Canal.
