Care home staff walked the 20 miles from Watford to Dunstable to raise money for a new minibus.

Courtland Lodge raised £1,000 during the gruelling seven hour walk, which was all off-road.

The care home, which has 60 beds, desperately needs a new bus to help

Home manager Guy Tingay said: “I completed the walk along with staff and in doing so felt proud that as a team we have proved how eager we are to make this happen.

"Having access to our own mini-bus would make such a massive difference to the lives of all our residents. We currently hire mini-buses if we have an outing coming up but this is very costly and doesn’t provide us with any flexibility.

"The benefits of having the freedom and choice to go out would give our residents much more independence and will deliver significant benefits to overall wellbeing."
