A COMMERCIAL fly-tipper was caught after a suspicious customer kept photos of his lorry.

Luis Rodriguez, 23, of Yew Avenue, West Drayton, pleaded guilty at Wycombe Magistrates Court to dumping waste illegally in Denham.

The court heard that a large amount of building rubble was found at Denham Country Park in Old Mill Road following an unauthorised encampment.

It was examined by the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire, who traced it to a builder. He had been suspicious of the carrier and had the foresight to take pictures of the lorry when the waste was removed.

This allowed the investigator to trace the illegal dumper through his vehicle registration.

Rodriguez claimed he had intended to take the waste to a household recycling centre, but it had closed for the day.

He was sentenced to 100 hours' unpaid community work and ordered to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £665.  A victim surcharge of £85 was also levied, making a total to pay of £750.

In August, the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire launched its SCRAP Fly-tipping campaign, which urges anyone to ensure they act on their legal duty to ensure that anyone who takes their waste away is registered
