The acclaimed British printmaker, who lives and works in Ruislip, returns to the For Arts Sake gallery in Bond Street, Ealing, from September 21-October 14 with an exhibition, This Is Us, lampooning the insanity of our modern age.
Recurring themes include the monolithic, looming creature forged from heavy industry, hard architecture and accumulated junk, as seen in London (pictured).
Langford, 48, was thrown out of secondary school midway through his A-Levels, for being a ‘disruption’.

“I had the ability to slow any subject down and make it something to laugh about,” he recalls. “The teachers and children were always laughing, so I thought I was doing well! Obviously not.”
Inspired by disaster movies of old – Godzilla, King Kong – his images satirise our obsessions with consumption, consumerism and Big City expansion.
Of London, Martin says: “It’s a comment on the lack of planning in erecting city buildings. The skyline in London has not been preserved. Consumerism and greed have the city collapsing under their weight.”
