The University of West London (UWL) will continue to sponsor Ealing Trailfinders RFC for a sixth consecutive season.

This continues a winning partnership which brings together two ambitious local institutions working hard for success in the fields of rugby and higher education.

This year, UWL has been ranked as one of the top 50 universities in the UK by the trusted and independent Guardian University Guide 2019, while Ealing Trailfinders are chasing promotion to the Premiership after winning rugby’s prestigious British & Irish Cup during the club’s best-ever campaign last season.

The ongoing collaboration is good news for the local community too. Engaging young people in sport and education are top priorities for both UWL and Ealing Trailfinders.

Hundreds of local schoolchildren have learnt new things by taking part in UWL’s Outreach scheme, which is dedicated to widening participation in higher education among traditionally under-represented groups.

Trailfinders have appointed a community coach to join club players and visit local schools to teach youngsters how to play rugby and stay fit and healthy.

Welcoming the renewal of the sponsorship deal, Professor Anthony Woodman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UWL, said: “We’re delighted to continue this partnership with Ealing Trailfinders.

“We are proud to be part of the local community and it’s fantastic to work with a club which shares our ambition to spread opportunity among young people.”

Ben Ward, Trailfinders’ director of rugby said: “UWL have been a fantastic supporter of the club and we are delighted to be working together for another year.

“Their local presence in the area makes them a great link with us and we look forward to another positive partnership.”

The Greene King IPA Championship season kicks off on September 1, when Trailfinders host newly-relegated London Irish.
