More than 180 students smashed their targets and set an an “exceptional standard” on results day.

Barnet and Southgate College's Wood Street Campus in Wood Street, High Barnet, achieved a 100 per cent A-level pass rate in nine A-Level subjects including chemistry, English language, English literature, history and politics.

Nikolett Peteri, 21, originally from Hungary but lives in Borehamwood was “chuffed” to receive an A in Psychology, a B in Sociology and a C in Biology, she will now be going to Royal Holloway University to study Psychology.

Nikolett said: “I'm originally from Hungary and I’ve been at Barnet and Southgate College for four years; I started on a bridging course, then did my GCSE’s and then finally my A levels here.

“I’m now off to my first choice: Royal Holloway University to study for a degree in Psychology. My time at College has been amazing, I’m going to miss it so much.

“The teaching has been so good and I liked being treated like an adult and have made so many good friends. I’d recommend it to anyone.”

Reehan Gulamhussein, 17, also from Borehamwood will be going to Warwick University after getting A’s in Physics, Maths and Chemistry.

He came to the college to play football, but after breaking his hand, he went on to focus on his A-levels.

Reehan said: “I’ve been up since 6am and I was not expecting three A’s. I’ve enjoyed my time at college.

“The teaching has been excellent, and you want to study hard for yourself and the teachers.

“Fortunately I got my first choice, which is Warwick University to study automotive engineering.

“I’m looking forward to starting university now.”

Barnet and Southgate College principal, David Byrne said: “Barnet and Southgate College has achieved some impressive results this year with 100 per cent A-level pass rates in nine subjects.

"This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students.

“They should all be very proud of their achievements.

"Some students are going to study at prestigious universities, some will be staying on at college for their Higher Education, and some will be going straight into the workplace.

“We wish them every success in the future.”
