Patryk Jermanski, 23, of Perivale, was killed by another Polish national, Adrian Kompinski, 24, of Rydal Crescent, Perivale, in December last year.

Kompinski was found guilty of manslaughter and having an offensive weapon, He was sentenced to a total of 17 years in jail.

London's Air Ambulance took the victim to hospital after he received first aid at the scene, but he was pronounced dead two hours later.

On searching Kompinski’s phone, police found a highly incriminating text sent to his mother, admitting his involvement in the killing, instructing her to keep silent and telling her a friend was helping him to get away.

The victim’s mother, Violetta Abubaker, said she and her daughter came to the UK to join Patryk, who had been very excited.

“We lived together for a time in rented accommodation, and our ultimate aim was to have our own flat or house together,” she added

“This dream was shattered when I was told the devastating news that Patryk had been killed. I was on the train at the time and broke down uncontrollably,

“Patryk was always happy, always smiling. He lit up our lives and, now that he has been taken from our family, he has left a gaping chasm, one which can never be filled.

“It has been six months since Patryk died, and the pain of his passing has not eased. Emotions are still so raw and I cannot come to terms with the fact I will never see or speak to him again.

“The only thing I want out of all this misery is for justice to be served for that man taking my son’s life. I have no feelings for him either way.”

Det Insp Shaun Fitzgerald said: “Kompinski is a cold and calculated individual who showed no remorse for his actions and, by fleeing to Scotland to try and get out of the country, he showed he only cared about himself and wanted to protect his own back.”
