PLACES in the Ealing Family and Mini Mile are sold out, with the highest number of entrants ever.

Sponsored for the second year by St Augustine's Priory, it has enjoyed a huge surge in popularity following its move last year to the day before the Ealing Half Marathon.

The Mini Mile and the Family Mile races will take place on Saturday, September 29, as part of a big weekend of sport.

In 2017, 1,200 youngsters took part in a series of Mini Mile races started by TV presenter Ben Shephard.

This year, the Family Mile for children aged five or under, along with an adult, is being introduced. A total of 400 places were snapped up.

The Ealing Mini Mile covers a one-mile route around Lammas Park, with plenty of support from family and friends.

Each year, a different school is selected to design the Mini Mile T-shirt, and Fielding Primary School in Ealing has been chosen for 2018.

Current Mini Mile course records are held by Charlotte Buckley from Thames Valley Harriers (00:05:43) and Joseph Barnes (00:05:18).

With just over two months until race weekend, the Ealing Half Marathon has almost filled its 7,000 spaces.

Until July 31, the entry fee is £46 for affiliated athletes and £48 for unaffiliated runners.
