HYGIENE training for restaurant staff in Ealing, which helps raise standards in kitchens and gives customers confidence about eating out, has won an award.
So far this year, around 30 restaurants in the borough have benefited from the Food Safety REHAB (Raising Ealing’s Hygiene Across the Borough) course, designed and delivered by the University of West London.
It is designed for food handlers who have been referred to UWL by Ealing Council and teaches hygiene, food storage, due diligence and cleanliness.
This week, two UWL staff members who deliver the training were recognised at the Employee Awards, hosted by Ealing Council.

Culinary Arts lecturer Manish Gobin and Hospitality lecturer Adam Lucas collected the award for Value for Money.
The REHAB programme specifically targets businesses which have persistently failed to comply with minimum standards and would normally be referred for prosecution.
An Indian restaurant saw its rating climb from one star to the maximum five after staff attended the training.
