A community street party was held in glorious sunshine to mark the Royal Wedding and the FA Cup Final.

On May 19, people from Beresford Road in Harrow hosted a gala for the combined residents of Althorpe Road, Beresford Road and Chandos Road to celebrate the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and the football.

More than 300 guests joined the festivities including the Mayor of Harrow, Margaret Davine, and the Mayoress, Marilyn Devine, and was officially opened by a “throwing of the bouquet” by the mayor herself.

The mayor judged many competitions throughout the day, including “Best Dressed House” which went to the Bradley family who combined well-known Royals dressed in football kits.

The Laryea family won the cake decorating competition with a three-tiered cake depicting a football game, a heart and the Royal couple.

Chairperson of the organising committee, Liz Stephenson, said: “It’s been so much fun to meet our neighbours and celebrate together the marriage of Harry and Meghan and the FA Cup.

“We’ve all met new people and made new friends, whilst having a fantastic party in our great street.”

Beresford Road began planning the event in February through several house meetings and Whatsapp group chats.
