Fire crew were called to tackle a blaze at a house in which much of the first floor was destroyed.

The London Fire Brigade were called at 8.40pm on May 14 to a house fire in Glendale Avenue, Edgware.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters were at the scene, where the roof of a two-story semi-detached house was devastated and most of the first floor was consumed in the blaze.

Two people left the property before emergency services arrived and no one was injured.

Station manager Jon Holt, who was at the scene, said: "Crews worked extremely hard to stop the fire spreading and contain it to the roof of the property."

Fire crews from Mill Hill, Harrow, Hendon, Barnet and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The fire was under control by 10.06pm and the cause is still under investigation.
