Fifty walkers took part in a 75-mile five-day trek in blistering heat last weekend for a charity for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Volunteers for St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow, braved scorching temperatures trekking across the South Downs Way in the run up the Bank Holiday weekend, for the charity’s 23rd Annual Walk, 2018.

The gruelling trek started on May 3 running up and down the Seven Sisters Country Park, before reaching their final destination at Beachy Head on May 7.

The walkers hoped to raise £25,000 for St Luke’s Hospice.

All 50 walkers completed the challenge, incurring some blisters and sunburn on the way, and a great time was had by all.

Two walkers, Janet and Martin, who previously met on of one the hospice annual walks, this time celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Annual walk organiser, Jess Eames, said: “We are so proud of all of our walkers who worked so hard to complete this difficult challenge.

“We are busy planning the 24th walk next year at a new and exciting location so watch this space.”

All money raised by the walkers will go to St Luke’s Hospice. St Luke’s looks after people with cancer and other serious progressive illnesses, such as motor neurone disease and heart, lung and kidney failure.
