A family attempted to fend off three men in gloves and balaclavas with a kitchen broom who broke into their home late at night.

The family from Sudbury Court Drive, Harrow, were at home watching television on March 5 when three men smashed their way through their back door at around 9.55pm.

One family member used a kitchen broom to ward then away, but one of the men grabbed the broom and then continued to force the door open.
The three men eventually ran away through the garden when more of the family came in to help, shouting at them.

They drove away towards Harrow Road in a silver Audi A3.
A spokesperson for the MET said no one was taken to hospital following the break in.

PC Fionnuala Kennedy, from Wembley's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "This was a particularly nasty incident where significant force was used in an attempt to gain entry to this house.

"The occupants bravely did all they could to fend off the burglars and, although nothing was stolen, they are naturally distressed with what happened.”

If anyone saw what happened or has information they should call Brent CID on 020 8721 2969 or 101.
