MUMS in Ealing can expect to be treated this Mother’s Day as new research shows loved-ones will splash out a huge £14.4m on gifts, family meals and days out.

A survey of more than 2,000 people by British Land, owner of Ealing Broadway Centre, found that Ealing residents will spend a£4.3m on pamper products, £1.9m on breakfast in bed and £932,000 on greetings cards.

Mothers in the region do deserve a treat, though, as six in 10 mums polled admit to having less than an hour’s ‘me time’ each day.

Traditional gifts, such as greetings cards (53%), flowers (53%) and chocolates (30%), top the list of this year’s most popular Mother’s Day presents.

However, some Ealing mums are hoping their children say ‘thank you’ in other ways, with more than a third (40%) wanting to unwrap their favourite perfume and one in five hoping for a bottle of wine.

As well as receiving gifts, mums want to spend quality time with their families this Mother’s Day – whether that’s going out for a family lunch (20%) or enjoying each other’s company at home (53%).

Favourite ‘me time’ activities include bingeing on Netflix (47%), reading a book in peace (40%) and catching up with friends (27%).

This Saturday (10), Ealing Broadway is partnering with gardening charity Cultivate to offer plant pot decorating in Town Square.

Throughout the day, children can showcase their artistic skills by painting plant pots for their mums. Pots will be provided free and plants will be on sale, with all proceeds going to Cultivate.
