THE Dido Micropub in Boston Road, Hanwell, has won Ealing Pub of the Year 2018.

The start-up venture, which has just celebrated its first birthday, beat off competition from 30 other borough pubs to win the Campaign for Real Ale vote.

The Dodo has managed to buck the trend of pub closures across the country by thriving in its first year with a community ethos that shuns all forms of electronic entertainment like TV sport, music and fruit machines to instead promote craft beer and conversation.

Lucy said: “Being a self-taught entrepreneur, it’s a real honour to know that people enjoy the business I’ve created enough to vote for us.”
