A SPLASH of colour is being added to buses on routes going through Hayes, as part of the Mayor of London’s aim to make catching the bus as easy as taking the Tube.

People in Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing and Hounslow will start to notice new colour-coded buses with the main destinations and interchanges listed on the side.

Routes affected are the 90, 140, 195, 350, 427, 607, A10, E6, H98, U4, U5 and U7, all of which pass through Hayes.

Bus stop signs will also be marked in identifiable colours, so passengers will be able to tell, at a glance, where the bus will go and which bus stop can be used for their route.

There will be more than 40 buses across 12 routes involved, and detailed maps of the area will be available at bus stops.

There will also be specific messages on shelters to show passengers which routes to take to get to places such as shopping areas, hospitals and station interchanges.

This is the second part of a trial, which has been running in Barkingside, East London, since May.
