LIONEL the eight-year-old lurcher, who had been at the Dogs Trust West London Rehoming Centre in Harefield since November 2014, has finally stolen the hearts of new owners.

Around 1,800 dogs were re-homed during Lionel’s time at the centre and staff couldn’t understand why his turn never seemed to come around.

However, Megan Langmead and Mark Presland, from Hendon, fell for Lionel when they met him this month and soon whisked him off to his new home with them.

Megan said: “We came to Dogs Trust looking for a new addition to our home and were open as to what breed or age we took on.

“Staff suggested we meet Lionel, and we knew as soon as we met him that he was the one for us. He’s settled in wonderfully and we cannot wait to give him the life he so deserves after so long in kennels.”

Dogs Trust Harefield Rehoming Centre manager Richard Moore added: “Finally, our lovely Lionel has found the forever home we so hoped for him! Here at the centre, we couldn’t be happier for him and we know he’ll have a great life with Megan and Mark.”

Lionel was known at the centre for his love of swimming and for using his long nose to work out doggy puzzles to find hidden treats.

Now, he has found a home where he can continue these activities – only now he will be with his loving new owners.
