HOME builders Countryside and L&Q are to build a community centre, youth club, supermarket  for Sainsbury’s Local and dental surgery at their Acton Gardens development.

They will all be situated in the space where Hardy Court previously stood and are due for completion early next year.

Oaktree Community Centre and Bollo Youth Club, which have been temporarily housed, will relocate there, too.

The community centre has been designed in consultation with residents and user groups.

This spring, work gets underway on a nursery, doctor’s surgery, small shops and office spaces where Charles Hocking House currently sits. It should be complete by the summer of 2020.

There will be a total of 308 homes, in addition to the community areas, of which 148 will be built above the shops.

The building, made up of three residential cores called Munster (after the South Acton Laundry), Barbour and Donne Court, was named by residents after a ballot.

The names were originally suggested by Acton History Group. The homes will be ready for occupation from the end of this year.

Expected for completion in 2026, Acton Gardens is a £600m project creating 2,500 homes and community areas across 52 acres.
