RESIDENTS angry at indiscriminate parking on the new St Andrew's Park Estate in Uxbridge have been given promises of action by the developer.

They complained to St Modwen about  the situation on the former RAF Uxbridge site, particularly around John Locke Academy Primary School.

They say that, three years into the major development, daily commuters, workmen with nowhere to store oversized vehicles and Heathrow travellers (who can catch the a bus right outside the estate for £1.50) leave their vehicles on the unprotected estate knowing residents cannot have them removed.

Hillingdon Council is unable to act because all the roads are private, except for Churchill Road, which is yet to be adopted.

A spokesperson for the developer this week promised immediate action in the most sensitive areas.

She said: “We are very aware of the strong feelings both for and against the introduction of parking controls but we have to make clear we are moving to full implementation on the estate.

“We will now be phasing in the various parking controls and zones. This is a sensible route that will be closely monitored to identify the impact of each stage. We will provide advance notice and inform all residents at the appropriate times of those subsequent changes.

However, two of the estate's main roads are a priority. On St. Andrew's Road, the health and safety issue is paramount around the school, not least with an adjacent park due to open imminently.

“We will be implementing controls from the start of the new school term on Thursday, January 4.

“Churchill Road is the estate's central spine road and the council will be adopting this in due course.

“Again, ensuring the health and safety of residents and guests is the main priority and we will be implementing parking control on this road from Monday, January 8.

“A new community is being built at St Andrew's Park and as always, we would encourage residents and their visitors to act in an appropriate and respectful manner in their use of roadways and parking spaces.”
