A LEADING building material supplier is coming to Hayes this month and will bring a £3,000 boost to charities and community groups.

Selco Builders Warehouse will open its Hayes branch in Millington Road, creating more than 50 jobs.

To mark the opening, two charities from Hayes and surrounding areas will receive a £1,000 windfall through the Selco Stars scheme.

It is open to charities and community groups who are invited to explain in no more than 100 words how the money would benefit them.

In addition, Selco will also support the activities of Macmillan Cancer Support in the Hayes area with a £1,000 donation.

Selco backs Macmillan nationally and has raised more than £450,000 over the last four years.

David Phipps, branch manager at Selco Hayes, said: “We’re very excited to be opening this branch, and increasing our already strong presence in London.

“There’s no better way to celebrate than by offering a great opportunity to charities in the area.

“So many organisations do such fantastic work in our community and we are very proud to be able to give them the chance to win a sum of money, which will make a real difference.”
