Two Harrow parks have been nominated for an award which could see them named the best in the country.

Pinner Memorial Park and Roxbourne Park will battle it out against more than 350 parks and green spaces for the national title presented by Fields in Trust.

It is part of an overall awards ceremony that honours the work done by people around the UK who are dedicated to improving and maintaining its open spaces.

Pinner Memorial Park is home to the Heath Robinson Museum, the first specialist museum to open in Greater London for more than 40 years, as well as a host of facilities catering for all ages.

A children’s play area, a peace garden, a pond with ducks and geese, a bowling green and a café are among the highlights in this tranquil park in the heart of Pinner.

Roxbourne Park also has a lot to offer and boasts a free live music venue as well as a number of sporting facilities.

These include football and cricket pitches, a basketball hoop and outdoor gym equipment. There is also a nature reserve, ponds, a miniature railway and a pavilion which can be used as a pop-up café.
