SEVERAL members of the Ealing Speech and Language Therapy team are raising awareness for Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) by running the Ealing Half Marathon this Sunday.
DLD effects 7% of children, more common than Autism but less widely known about - and that’s why the team are doing it!
There will also be a stall at the end of Roseberry Gardens (just before 6km on the route) selling baked goods and raising money for RADLD, the organisation which is striving to raise awareness of this common condition.
DLD is a diagnosis given if a child or adult has difficulties using or understanding language. It has an impact on a child’s and adult’s literacy, learning, friendships and emotional wellbeing.
It is important it is identified early and children are given the right support.
For more information on DLD you can visit www.naplic.org or you can read more about the team and sponsor them at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/rosie-bownessclarke
