Community leaders have joined forces to praise policing in the borough.

Despite the rise in hate crimes across the country Harrow has remained one of the safest boroughs in London with no increase.

The meeting at the Civic Centre, Station Road on Wednesday saw Chief Superintendent Simon Owens answered questions and outline police plans for keeping people safe.

He said: “We stand together today, and we will stand for each other whenever any of us are threatened by intolerance, by vitriol, by hatred or by violence.”

Attendees from the council also spoke how they could support the victims of Grenfell Tower and disaster management strategies were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Mayor Margaret Davine, Leader Sachin Shah, Conservative group deputy leader Barry McLeod-Cullinane, Chief Executive Michael Lockwood and GLA member Navin Shah.
