Police discovered drugs and weapons in a flat during a raid.

Neighbours had complained to the police about potential drug dealing taking place in a house on Hayling Way, Edgware, on Tuesday.

Officers confiscated knives, a large quantity of drugs including herbal cannabis and crack cocaine, and credit cards in various names.

They then returned after receiving a call about a man who had allegedly paid a locksmith to break into the property after it had been secured by the housing provider.

It was reported he was acting suspiciously and walking to and from the property, which incited neighbours to alert the police.

A police spokesman, who was not named, said: “I hope residents are reassured that we and our partners are taking their concerns seriously and are taking the issue of drugs in our local community seriously.

“We have a committed team of local police and community support officers who are making the area a safer place to live and work.”

A man was arrested on suspicion of fraud, possession and intent to supply drugs and possession of an offensive weapon after further enquiries were made at the scene.
