A “model matzo bakery” is on the move to teach children how to bake in Barnet and Harrow, marking the Jewish holiday of Passover.

The Matzo bakery, spearheaded in the UK by Tzivos Hashem UK 20 years ago, is a series of workshops starting after the holiday of Purim up to Passover.

The team from Tzivos Hashem teach children and adults to winnow and separate the wheat kernels, grind the grain and sift the flour before the make dough and bake their own matzah, all in 18 minutes.

Rabbi Yossi Simon said: “Many educators are booking the matzo bakery because they still remember participating in it as children and the positive impact it had.”

Some of the institutions visited by the baking workshops include London Jewish Family Centre, Yavneh College, Noam Primary School and Rimon Jewish Primary School.

The children are even given hats and aprons so they can look that part while they make their festive matzos.
